In view of many disease cases, stem cell research has become an important research field. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are one of the representative materials of stem cell research. MSCs are multipotent progenitor cells that can differentiate into various cell types, including osteocytes, adipocytes, chondrocytes, myocytes, stromal cells, and neurons. MSCs are obtained from bone marrow, umbilical cord, cord blood, fat, and other body organs. Among them, human inferior nasal turbinates and nasal septum cartilage are good for extraction of MSCs. We used the MSC extraction protocol of ARCO Sensorineural Laboratory to extract the MSCs. To identify the extracted MSCs, immunofluorescence against the cell surface markers CD90 and CD73 (or CD105) of MSCs was performed using the MSC Phenotyping Kit (Miltenyi Biotec, Germany). hMSCs derived from the cartilage of the inferior turbinates and nasal septum showed positive results. Further studies and comparative analysis of the differentiated target cells of our MSCs are required.
